The Chinese government has allotted spectrum in the 6 gigahertz frequency band for 5G and 6G services, according to a June announcement from the nation’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Given its benefits in terms of coverage and capacity, the ministry stressed that the 6 gigahertz spectrum, which is in the mid-band and has significant bandwidth and high quality, is especially appropriate for the deployment of 5G systems or 6G preparations.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the European industry’s 6G Smart Network and Services Industry Association (6G-IA) and China’s IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group last year, with the aim of promoting 6G R&D and international collaboration. Both organizations have declared plans to improve cooperation on 6G technology and systems as per the terms of the agreement.
