with a 6.78 FHD+ 165Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, up to 24GB of RAM, and IP68 certifications, the (ASUS ROG) Phone 8 and Phone 8 Pro.

Following rumors, (asus rog)recently unveiled the ROG Phone 8, the company’s newest gaming smartphone, at CES 2024. It has the same 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED HDR 1-120Hz LTPO display, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, with a refresh rate option of 165 Hz for gaming and a maximum brightness of 2500 nits.

Although ASUS ROG claims that performance has not been compromised and that the device still boasts a premium design and durability, it has a 15% lighter body and thinner bezels around the screen.

As part of the sophisticated GameCool 8 thermal design, the phone’s Rapid-Cooling Conductor design transfers heat straight from the processor to the rear cover. Furthermore, the newly designed AeroActive Cooler X clip-on cooler boasts a 29% smaller size and 1.2X higher thermal efficiency, which can lower the temperature of the back cover by up to 26°C.

The phone features a 13 MP ultrawide camera, a 50 MP main camera with a Sony sensor, a 6-Axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabilizer 3.0, and, for the first time on a ASUS ROG phone, a 32 MP 3X telephoto lens with integrated OIS. According to ASUS ROG, it can provide crisper images even at up to 30X zoom by preserving every detail in pictures. Adaptive EIS is used by the telephoto camera to achieve stable results at up to 10X zoom while filming. The field of view (FoV) of the front 32 MP ultrawide selfie camera with RGBW sensor has been expanded from 73° to 90°.

With X Capture, players can easily record important moments or fade a game into the background. When help is needed, the user-friendly Al Grabber for text capture and X Sense can offer advice and support. X Capture and X Sense 2.0 now support more new popular games, and Al Grabber can now also use machine-learning recognition technology to directly extract text from games. Semantic search in the Gallery, Launcher, and Settings using natural language is one of the other Al-powered features.

Unique customizable elements of the new ROG Phone 8 series include the Aura RGB Lighting logo (ASUS ROG Phone 8) and the Anime Vision Mini-LED 341-element display, which allows users to create and save their own animations. Additionally, users can access hidden animations by touching their phone back-to-back with another ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro / Pro Edition. The manufacturer claims that it is also the first gaming smartphone in the world to be IP68 compliant, meaning it is designed to withstand water and dust intrusion.

The phone’s dual-cell 5,500mAh battery is marginally smaller than the Phone 7’s 6000mAh battery, but it still supports 15W Qi wireless charging and 65W HyperCharge fast charging, which allows for a full charge in 39 minutes.
