In a TV interview, the war cabinet minister, who lost his soldier son, warns that a deal is the only immediate means of rescuing hostages and that fresh elections are necessary to rebuild public confidence.

In an interview on Thursday, Gadi Eisenkot, the minister of war cabinet, seemed to be criticizing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu handling of the ongoing war with Hamas in gaza news. He suggested that talk of a total victory over the terror group was unrealistic and that fresh elections should be held in the coming months to rebuild public confidence in the government in the wake of the devastating October 7 attacks.

Former IDF chief of staff Eisenkot spoke with Channel 12’s Uvda program in an extensive interview that also covered the personal toll the war has had on him and his family. Early in December, Master Sgt. (res.) Gal Meir Eisenkot, 25, Eisenkot’s son, and Sgt. Maor Cohen Eisenkot, 19, his nephew, were killed in combat in gaza news.

The Eisenkot interview aired just hours after Netanyahu vowed to “bring complete victory” over Hamas in response to the terror group’s October 7 attacks, in which thousands of terrorists went on a killing spree throughout southern Israel, and rejected the idea of holding elections in the midst of a conflict that he has stated could well last until 2025.240 people were taken as hostages and 1,200 people—mostly civilians—were massacred.

In the interview, Eisenkot stated, “Whoever speaks of total defeat is not speaking the truth.” For this reason, we shouldn’t narrate stories. The current state of affairs in the gaza news Strip means that the war’s objectives remain unfulfilled.

Despite a growing death toll in the Palestinian enclave, Israel has come under fire for lacking a post-war plan for gaza news. The Israeli government has pledged to destroy Hamas’s military and political capabilities in gaza news and eliminate the terror group as a threat to Israelis. Additionally, Israel has pledged to ensure the hostages’ return.
