Governor of Team Maharashtra Ramesh Bias will launch Bharat Rang Mahotsav in 2024.(national school of drama)

Mumbai: The largest theatre festival in the world, Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM 2024), will take place, according to the national school of drama (NSD). On February 1, 2024, BRM will launch with a grand opening ceremony at Mumbai’s National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA). At a special ceremony, NSD Chairperson Paresh Rawal will be present with His Excellency Governor of Maharashtra, Ramesh Bais.

The event is slated to happen in 2024 between February 1 and February 21. This 21-day theatre festival, which will take place over 15 cities nationwide, will showcase more than 150 national school of drama performances along with a plethora of workshops, discussions, and master classes, offering a diverse blend of Indian and international theatrical customs. In addition, this year will mark the 25th anniversary of Bharat Rang Mahotsav’s founding.

Mukti Cultural Hub and Bharat Rang Mahotsav have partnered to promote theatre in Mumbai. With vital support from Smita Thackeray, the chairperson of Mukti Foundation, Mukti Cultural Hub will be able to host a three-day festival from February 4–6. Shivaji Natya Mandir has also generously supported the festival, hosting a two-day event on February 2 and 3 in their theater auditorium.

The festival’s theme for this year is Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, Vande Bharangam, which aims to promote artistic and theatrical unity among all countries. By focusing on social harmony and fostering a sense of oneness among all people, it aims to unite diverse cultures through the potent medium of performing arts, resulting in an incredibly enriching experience.national school of drama

This cultural extravaganza in Mumbai, scheduled to enthrall audiences for six thrilling days from February 1 to February 6, 2024, will culminate on February 6 with a grand closing ceremony at Mukti Cultural Hub. national school of drama

It will include six fascinating plays in different genres and languages, all of which are masterpieces in their own right. It will open with the exciting play Humare Ram, directed by Felicity Theatre, Delhi, and starring well-known actor and NSD alumnus Ashutosh Rana. Thereafter, a variety of productions will take place, such as “GAJAB TICHI ADA” by Rangpeeth Theatre, Mumbai; “BABUJI” by NSD Repertory Company, New Delhi; “THE ZOO STORY” by Panchkosi, Delhi; “TODI MILL FANTASY” by Theatre Flamingo, Goa; and “SWAHA” by Darpan, Lucknow.national school of drama

This year, NSD is taking a bold step by launching Rang Heat, an annual program that aims to create Asia’s first global theater market and foster international partnerships in the theatrical industry. By bringing together theater professionals, programmers, fans, and sponsors, Rong Hoat will showcase global projects, encourage the national school of drama identification of untapped talent, and support artistic and financial collaborations. Exposure to a wider audience will help participants develop possible joint ventures and infuse energy into the international theater scene.
